Walkway crashes at suspended mine of Severstal’s unit, kills 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Sep 29 (PRIME) -- A walkway crashed down during disassembling works at a suspended mine of Russian steelmaker Severstal’s unit Vorkutaugol, killing two workers, Vorkutaugol said in a statement on Tuesday.

“On September 29, a crash of a walkway happened during disassembling works at an industrial site of the Ayach-Yaga suspended mine of Vorkutaugol. As a result, two employees of a subcontractor … Katyusha LLC suffered fatal injuries,” the statement read.

Preliminary investigation showed that violation of safety regulations was the reason for the crash. An investigation of the accident has been launched, the company said.
